Lexington Climate Action Network (LexCAN) is a volunteer-led, 501(c)(3) organization of Lexington residents who work together, and with other town organizations, to promote climate solutions, climate justice, and a sustainable future. As we work toward achieving livable, equitable, and resilient communities, LexCAN promotes a culture of inclusion.
Our mission is to educate the Lexington community about the urgency of addressing climate change; to advocate for environmentally sustainable, equitable policies; and to act in collaboration with others to promote bold solutions that protect living systems.
We envision communities of informed, engaged citizens who strive for sustainable and equitable climate solutions that protect living systems for future generations.
What Motivates Us?
Climate change affects communities disproportionately. We have a responsibility to share the burden as allies in the climate fight for environmental justice. We all share the same sky and earth and need to care for each other as well as our planet.
Our Approach
We approach our mission through three areas of action:
Education & Awareness
LexCAN encourages understanding, knowledge and confidence in order to promote climate action.
Advocacy
LexCAN studies and takes positions on legislation and policies in Lexington and on the state and federal level.
Collaboration
LexCAN believes the combined work of organizations is the most effective way to solve the climate crisis. In that spirit, we partner with other Lexington groups in ways that complement and augment LexCAN’s work.
