Event Description:
Conservation starts at home! Learn how to transform your corner of the world, no matter how small or large, into an ecofriendly haven for native flora and fauna. We’ll cover habitat resiliency, biodiversity, and the ecological importance of human managed landscapes. You’ll leave with the ability to understand your landscape, select plants, and maintain habitats for long-term ecosystem benefit.

Tia Pinney Bio:
Tia Pinney is currently a senior naturalist for Mass Audubon. She has worked at Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary since 1994 involved in sanctuary based and statewide adult programming as well as maintaining and enhancing the sanctuary’s habitats and ecosystems. Prior to joining Drumlin Farm, she was a high school science teacher and a fabric artist. Tia grew up on a dairy farm in Connecticut and working at Mass Audubon has been her dream job combining her roots in farming and natural history with her love of science and teaching.

Kaleigh Yee Bio:
Kaleigh Yee has been an AmeriCorps service member at Mass Audubon since the Summer of 2023. Her primary project is promoting Nature by the Yard, but she also serves as property staff at Mass Audubon’s Habitat Education Center in Belmont. She graduated from Brandeis University in May of 2023 with a major in Environmental Studies and minors in Public Health and Chemistry. Kaleigh believes land-based solutions are the most impactful ways to approach community health and happiness, and she is looking forward to finishing her service term as a kickoff to a career in nonprofits.
