Over the next twenty-five years, the capacity of New England’s electric grid will need to double to accommodate the region’s future demand for electricity. It has been estimated that it will cost between $16 and $26 billion dollars to build that future grid. New England’s cities and towns will not only have to accommodate the enormous cost of building out the grid, but also sustain direct environmental and community impacts that come with grid expansion. Yet, they are not being invited to participate in planning the future grid.
Come to this webinar with the Acadia Center to Explore:
- the transformation of the regional grid that is about to take place;
- the history of the electric grid, and the central role communities played in its creation;
- the impacts of grid expansion on New England cities and towns; and
- the central role that New England cities and towns can play as active participants in planning the future grid.
