Join the Conservation Stewards for a Conservation Cleanup Day at Poor Farm Conservation Area to address debris from winter storms and numerous brush piles from private properties. Enter at the intersection of Hill and Cedar.

We invite you to join us with your favorite clippers or loppers, along with your enthusiasm and strength. Together, we’ll embark on a rewarding journey to restore the beauty of the Poor Farm Meadow while fostering a sense of community spirit. Be advised, you should be comfortable walking on uneven terrain and around thorny vegetation, ticks, and poison ivy.

What to bring:

  • Gloves
  • Closed-toed shoes
  • Any landscape tool (if you have one) that will aid in moving brush and tree limbs

To help us with planning and to allow us to contact you in case of changes, please email Lisbeth Bornhofft at [email protected] if you hope to attend. Looking forward to a productive and enjoyable day of conservation efforts!

Garlic mustard was originally imported in the nineteenth century as a garden herb and salad green. It is most aggressive along roadsides and shady, moist, rich forests, and may form dense colonies. The plants produce a toxin that kills soil fungi that our native plants depend on. Annual pulling each spring before the flowers seed is the best way to stop its spread. Learn more here.
