Join farmer & chef Sarah Carlisle of Rascal Relish LLC for an exploration of easy, nutritious, and delicious ferments made with fresh fall veggies from the fields of Lexington Community Farm. We will sample a selection of ferments from Sarah’s kitchen, discuss the science and practice behind preserving seasonal veggies by fermentation, and demonstrate the preparation of “kraut-chi” using cabbages, radishes, ginger, and other ingredients grown here at the farm.The farmers have mapped out the crops for the perfect kraut-chi (or kimchi, or sauerkraut…) harvest this fall, so get ready with this fun fermenting workshop!This is an ideal workshop for Preservers CSA shares to help expand your preserving knowledge and enjoy the fall bounty throughout the year in new ways.About Sarah: Sarah has been growing food in community farms & gardens since 2015, and teaching culinary and garden education since 2016. Originally from Winchester MA, she spent 12 years in Oregon and New York before returning home to grow her small business where she’d like to remain rooted. Currently, Sarah produces and sells craft condiments, provides gardening services, and offers 1:1 and group culinary and garden education as Rascal Relish LLC. She is also the facilitator of a budding forest school for 3-6 year olds and supports two other women owned & operated small food businesses on a part-time basis.
