Want to add native plants to your garden inexpensively? Heard about “winter sow” but unsure where to start? Most seeds of native plants need a period of freezing and thawing to break dormancy. Come to this workshop and learn how to sow them in the middle of winter so you have seedlings to plant in the spring – it’s easy! Bring 2 or 3 translucent gallon water/milk jugs or 1-quart yogurt containers with clear plastic tops. potting soil and a choice of seed of a dozen different native species will be provided, or you can bring your own.
Hosted by LexFarm and taught by volunteers with Lexington Living Landscapes. This workshop will take place in the LexFarm greenhouse which can be cozy and warm when the winter sun is shining but quite cool when weather is cloudy — participants should plan to dress for the weather and bring warm layer options. Registration is limited to 30 and includes a $10 fee for materials.
