Polls indicate that a strong majority in Massachusetts (59%) want local officials to take more action on global warming — even as national policies cast a shadow over efforts to reduce pollution in our cities and towns. Accurate and effective messaging can help build support for local climate initiatives.

Communications expert Annette McDermott, Senior Program Director at Sunstone Strategies, will give us messaging strategies and tips to accurately frame the issue of energy affordability and make a compelling case for clean energy in our communities.

Following Annette’s presentation, we’ll talk about potential actions municipal officials and advocates can take this fall to promote the energy transition and neighborhood electrification.

Annette is Senior Program Director at Sunstone, a communications consulting firm working to end fossil fuel pollution. Annette works with Gas Transition Allies and other organizations in the northeast to develop effective communications strategies and policies to advance the transition to clean energy.
