Dawn Burau, from Wild Indigo Gardening, will share her experiences growing native plants in a Somerville, MA yard. Her backyard is covered in pavement and abuts the neighbor’s yard near a chain-link fence. Between the pavement and the fence is roughly a foot of poor soil, which happened to be next to her raised vegetable beds. Believing that every available strip of land can support the ecosystem, Dawn has planted various native plants to see which ones didn’t make it, which succumb to rabbit damage, and which ultimately thrive. Join the journey and learn the top three thriving plants thus far. Get other tips for growing native plants in unlikely places as well!
