Please join us for our guest speaker, Larry Chretien, who will focus on how to modernize the electric grid to utilize renewable energy like wind and solar.
Larry Chretien is the Executive Director of Green Energy Consumers Alliance, whose mission is to harness our power, as energy consumers, to speed the transition to a low carbon future. Larry is also on the state’s Grid Modernization Advisory Council that reviews and provides recommendations on Massachusetts electric-sector modernization plans.
Questions We Have For Larry:
• How does the electric grid work?
• What are the barriers to the grid accommodating distributed renewable energy such as wind and solar?
• What role do the utilities play in addressing these barriers?
• How can we make a difference in speeding progress for our clean energy future?
• What role does energy storage play?
• Who decides what gets done? The electric utilities, DPU…?
• Are the electric utilities properly incentivized to promote renewable energy?
• What are the siting issues?
Larry will take us through as much of this complicated territory as time allows.
