Fall is a wonderful time to search for wild edibles—there are lots of nutrient-dense foods available. Join naturalist Emily Carvalho as she again takes us on an informative walk through LexFarm to discover the wild foods and herbs that thrive in this season.

Emily Carvalho is a naturalist with a passion for inspiring others to cultivate their own relationships with the natural world through gardening, foraging, and wildlife watching. This walk is ideal both for those who are new to foraging and for those who would like to extend their knowledge of foraging into the cooler months. From nuts to roots to seeds, Emily Carvalho will demonstrate how to correctly identify and harvest plants and discuss their many culinary and medicinal uses. Participants will help forage for black walnuts and learn how to cure and harvest this delicious nut. The walk will end with foraged snacks and refreshments crafted by Emily.

Please dress appropriately for the weather, including boots and work gloves (black walnuts stain skin and clothing). The walking tour will meet at the LexFarm parking lot.

Registration Required: Members $25/ Non-Members $30
