Clean Energy Advocate
Job Scope:
As a Clean Energy Advocate, you are tasked with collaborating closely with LexCAN members, the Town Sustainability officer and other local partners to educate Lexington residents about the available programs, incentives, and other resources that can help them move towards home electrification, improved energy efficiency, and sustainable practices in general. Whenever possible, this work should prioritize reaching low-income residents, renters, residents with limited English proficiency, and other underserved populations.
What You’ll Bring: We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated advocate who enjoys building community by doing outreach with many different community groups. The ideal candidate is savvy with the Google suite, social media platforms, and Canva graphic design tools. A preferred candidate will bring a background or strong interest in environmental science, sustainability, ecology, and/or climate change resilience.
Work Schedule: The ideal candidate can dedicate 20 – 30 hours per week on average to this role. Typically the work schedule is very flexible with independent work performed remotely with discretion regarding when work is done. Zoom meetings and calls with LexCAN members will typically occur between 9a – 3p weekdays. In-person meetings and events are typically weekday evenings and weekend days. The hours will fluctuate and can amount to more than 40 hours in weeks when deadline-based workload is high (e.g., in advance of events we host).
We envision this as a 6-month position from November/December 2024 through April/May 2025.
Salary: This role will be a contractor position that will be paid on an hourly basis at the rate of $25 – $32/hour, commensurate with experience.
Location: The bulk of the work will be performed remotely. However, it is essential that the candidate be able to attend in-person events in Lexington, MA. We expect events will occur approximately twice a month and are typically weekday evenings or weekend days.
