SUMMARY:Weed Warrior Training at Patch Hill Conservation Land
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nAre you interested in learning how to identify and cont
 rol invasive plant species? The Boxborough Land Stewards has just joined t
 he “Weed Warriors” program managed by our regional land trust organiza
 tion\, Sudbury Valley Trustees (SVT).\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe goal of this progra
 m is to have a unified force of trained volunteers to tackle invasive spec
 ies management throughout the Sudbury\, Assabet and Concord River (SuAsCo)
  Watershed. The following two “kickoff” events have been scheduled at 
 the Patch Hill Conservation Land trailhead on Liberty Square Road just nor
 th of Benjamin Drive.\n- Tuesday\, April 28\, 10 AM – 12 Noon:  Trainin
 g walk to learn how to identify common invasive plant species such as Asia
 tic Bittersweet\, Burning Bush\, Glossy Buckthorn\, Multiflora Rose\, and 
 Honeysuckle. This walk will be led by SVT staff member Sam Rogers and Boxb
 orough’s Land Stewards Coordinator Dave Barnett. Recommended strategies 
 for managing these invasive species will be discussed.\n- Saturday\, May 2
 \, 9 – 11 AM:  Initial “work party” to remove invasives\, with the 
 primary focus on cutting and pulling Asiatic bittersweet vines.\nAll neces
 sary tools will be provided\, although you are welcome to bring your own p
 runing shears and/or hand saws. Please wear long pants\, closed-toe shoes 
 and work gloves.\nPlease contact Land Stewards Coordinator Dave Barnett at
