DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n\nJoin us for our first of two meetings this spr
 ing! With the legislative session in full swing\, our April meeting will f
 ocus on "Advancing Municipal Empowerment: Legislative Priorities for the F
 inal Phase of the 2025-2026 Session." We will discuss key gas-related prio
 rities for municipal officials and advocates in the final months of the le
 gislative session as legislators move towards advancing a final bill. We w
 ill also hear an encouraging update from CLF on the ongoing lawsuit agains
 t National Grid for failure to address gas leaks.\n\nOur top priorities in
 clude:\n\n 	\n\n 	Requiring utilities to provide more timely and complete
  information to municipalities about planned gas work\, and expanding t
 he role of municipal officials in reviewing and offering feedback and alt
 ernatives to gas company plans (H. 3446)\n 	Expanding the fossil-fuel-free
  demonstration program from 10 to 20 municipalities (S. 2292)\n 	\nEstabl
 ishing a commission to develop recommendations for municipalities to own\
 , install\, operate\, and bill for thermal energy networks\, and to allow
  municipalities to designate other entities to own\, install\, operate\, a
 nd bill for thermal energy networks.  \n\n\n\nMargaret Nivison of Conser
 vation Law Foundation will also provide an encouraging update on the law
 suit against National Grid for the company’s failure to address gas lea
 ks and the risks they pose to neighborhoods in Boston and Chelsea.\n\n\n\
 n\n\nJoin us again on May 19 at 11 am for a discussion on regulatory updat
 es following the DPU's forthcoming 2026 GSEP Order.\n\n\n\n\n
