SUMMARY:Lunch and Learn: Waste Reduction and Modernization Program
DESCRIPTION:Calling all seniors and residents with mobility challenges for 
 a special opportunity to weigh in on the design of an updated waste collec
 tion system for Lexington. The Town is exploring changes that would reduce
  waste and protect the Town from rising waste collection and disposal cost
 s\, including:\n\n- Expanding the food waste composting program\;\n\n- Tra
 nsitioning to an automated collection system with standard bin sizes\;\n\n
 - Addressing excess waste beyond what fits in a standard bin size\; and\n\
 n- Creating more accessible diversion opportunities.\n\nA key component to
  this updated program design will be the size of new trash and recycling 
 carts. The Town is particularly interested in hearing from residents with 
 concerns about wheeling waste carts to and from the curb on trash day\, so
  we can workshop solutions together.\n\nPlease join the Waste Reduction Ta
 sk Force on February 24 from 11:30-12:30 in the Community Center Dining Ro
 om.\n\nThe event will include a presentation to explain why changes to ou
 r waste management system are needed\, and what kind of changes are being 
 considered to modernize our waste collection system\, reduce waste\, and p
 rotect us from rising costs. There will be time for questions and input fr
 om the group\, and we will have sample bins available for you to handle.\n
