DESCRIPTION:Did you know Wilmington is home to a rare and once-massive ecos
 ystem called Lebanon Swamp? Long ago\, this area was a thriving Atlantic W
 hite Cedar Swamp—a special kind of wetland that supported wildlife\, hel
 d deep cultural meaning\, and gave early settlers the name “Lebanon” i
 n reference to the famous biblical Cedars of Lebanon.\nOver time\, the swa
 mp has changed. The cedar trees are gone\, and what remains has been impac
 ted by development\, invasive plants\, and other pressures. But there is a
  chance to bring this place back to life.\nJoin Harley Monteiro\, a Wilmin
 gton native and conservation professional\, as he shares the history of Le
 banon Swamp\, why it’s such an important and unique habitat\, and the vi
 sion for restoring it. Growing up in a neighborhood next to the swamp\, Ha
 rley spent his childhood exploring these woods and learning to love nature
 —a passion that eventually led him to work in national parks across the 
 country. Now he’s bringing that knowledge home.\nAt this session\, you
